Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Ukrainian.name (the "Site") collects, how we use it, and your rights as a visitor. It follows the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Ukrainian Personal Data Protection Act.

1. Data controller

The controller of your data is the operator of Ukrainian.name. Contact: info@ukrainian.name.

2. What data we collect

If you simply browse the Site, we collect no personal data and require no registration. A few specific features collect the minimum technical data needed to function:

• The name generator: sets a signed cookie ng_uses in your browser containing only the current date and a counter of free queries used today (up to 3). Your query text is forwarded to a language model for processing and is not retained on our side.
• The contact form: sent directly from your mail client to info@ukrainian.name. The Site does not receive or store its contents — the email goes straight to our inbox.
• Technical logs: our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) automatically records anonymised request logs (IP address, browser type, timestamp) for abuse prevention and traffic statistics. We do not access these logs directly and do not use them to identify individuals.

3. Legal basis & purposes

• Performance of a service (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — to limit the number of free name-generator queries and prevent abuse.
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — to protect the Site from bots, spam, and DDoS attacks (via Cloudflare).

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

4. Cookies

The Site uses only functional and security cookies. There are no marketing or analytics cookies. Details on a separate Cookies page.

5. Sharing with third parties

Two providers may temporarily process your requests as data processors:

• Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, CDN, bot protection. Data is handled according to Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• OpenRouter, Inc. — relay for name-generator requests to the language model. Your query text is passed to the model. OpenRouter privacy policy.

No data is shared with advertising, marketing, or analytics systems.

6. Retention

• The ng_uses cookie expires within 24 hours and resets at the start of the next day.
• Cloudflare technical logs follow their own retention policies (typically no more than 30 days).
• Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to reply or to track factual corrections.

7. Your rights

Under GDPR and Ukrainian law you have the right to:

• be informed about the processing of your data;
• request correction or erasure;
• restrict or object to processing;
• withdraw consent at any time;
• lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority (Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in Ukraine; your national DPA in the EU).

8. Children

The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 16.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is always published on this page; the last-updated date appears at the top of the document.
